United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)

Agreement signed in Rio de Janeiro in 1992 and entered into force in 1994, setting an overall framework for intergovernmental efforts to tackle the challenge posed by climate change. Its objective is to stabilize the concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. The seat of the UNFCCC secretariat is in Bonn.
