Projects on Climate Protection
The climate protection projects of klimazwei demonstrate the extent to which the emission of greenhouse gases can be reduced if appropriate measures are taken. These include, for example, renewable fuels for shipping, improved heat insulation of glass roofs in horticulture, the selection of the best locations for biogas plants, and the use of diffusing gases from landfills and slag heaps. Companies receive assistance in the balancing of emission intensities over the supply chain and in deciding whether it is better for them to reduce emissions for themselves or to buy emission allowances on the market. Projects on the Protection from Climate Impacts
The ability to adapt to climate change is being improved in several klimazwei-projects for protection from climate effects. Here, early warning systems provide risk aversion in the case of extreme weather events, drainage concepts, adaptation measures for field crops and in fruit growing as well as modified services in tourist destinations. Additionally, suggestions of measures for regional planning and urban development have been produced. Finally, decision support systems are offered for agriculture and forestry. Here you find an overview on the klimazwei-projects that work on the protection from climate impacts including links to the projects.

KLIMZUG (Managing climate change in the regions for the future)
During summer 2008, the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research started the first two network projects of its latest funding programme on adaptation to climate change “KLIMZUG – Managing climate change in the regions for the future”. The objective of KLIMZUG is to integrate climate change and resulting extreme weather phenomena in processes of regional planning and development.
